Where Mrs. Luetgert Was Seen:
Washington Park, Chicago

On September 26, 1897, the Chicago Tribune reported:

A woman, who the police say, bears a remarkable resemblance to Mrs. Luetgert, was found wandering in Washington Park yesterday afternoon by Officer James Apsin of the park police. She proved to be Mary Jones, a domestic, who is out of employment, and it is thought that she intended committing suicide.
